The modern and dynamic Faculty of Translation and Interpreting at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is located in a cosmopolitan city full of history and culture.

Undergraduate (post-2009/10)

Languages Offered

According to the guidelines established in article 12 of the Royal Decree 1393/2007, this degree programme has a minimum duration of four years and a total of 240 ECTS credits. These credits include all the theoretical and practical training that the student should acquire. The academic year is divided into two semesters, each one containing a total of 30 credits. This makes a total of 60 ECTS credits in a typical academic year.

Languages Offered

As well as the basic compulsory languages (Spanish and English + German  or English + French), this degree offers an optional D language: Arabic for those studying C Language French, and Russian for those whose C Language is German. Students may also opt to study Italian and Portuguese as a D language through an agreement with the Aula de Idiomas at the ULPGC. The Faculty also offers free courses every year in Chinese, Korean, and other East Asian languages of socioeconomic importance.


The undergraduate degrees in Translation have been designed according to the requirements of the European Higher Education Area  so students will benefit from the following advantages:

1. More practical learning and work placement in their final year.
2. Automatic recognition of credits enabling students to change degrees within the same field of studies.
3. Students’ overall work and initiative will be considered for assessment. One ECTS credit is the equivalent of 25-30 hours of study, of which 40-60% is spent in the classroom.
4. Students will receive tutorials and will be assessed continuously.
5. The Bologna process will allow professional mobility throughout Europe, since degrees will not have to be recognized by other universities.
6. The degree programmes have been designed according to social demand and take into consideration requirements for professional employment.
