I am staying for one semester. Which subjects can I choose?
The computer system for registration does not allow students who are staying for one semester to register in annual subjects. For this reason, you may choose subjects from the post- 2009-10 undergraduate degrees:
Grado en Traducción e Interpretación: Inglés-Alemán
Curso 1 (1st year)
Curso 2 (2nd year)
Subjects for the 3rd and 4th year of this degree are not yet available.
Grado en Traducción e Interpretación: Inglés-Francés
Curso 1 (1st year)
Curso 2 (2nd year)
Subjects for the 3rd and 4th year of this degree are not yet available.
You may also choose subjects from the pre-2009-10 undergraduate degrees:
Licenciatura
In the three pre-2009-10 undergraduate degrees (English, French, German) you may only choose semester subjects.
The subjects for the 1st and 2nd year of these degree programmes are no longer available.
I’m staying for two semesters. Which subjects can I choose?
If you are staying for the whole academic year you may choose subjects from any of the undergraduate degree programmes:
Grado en Traducción e Interpretación: Inglés-Alemán
Curso 1 (1st year)
Curso 2 (2nd year)
Subjects for the 3rd and 4th year of this degree are not yet available.
Grado en Traducción e Interpretación: Inglés-Francés
Curso 1 (1st year)
Curso 2 (2nd year)
Subjects for the 3rd and 4th year of this degree are not yet available.
Licenciatura
You may choose any core or optional subject from the three pre-2009-10 undergraduate degree programmes (English, French, German).
The subjects for the 1st and 2nd year of these degree programmes are no longer available.
I want to change my Learning Agreement. What should I do?
This is a simple process. Download the Learning Agreement form from the FTIC web page and fill it in again (see above). Print it, and then arrange a meeting with your academic coordinator for approval of the new agreement. Take the signed agreement to the Vice-dean. You will receive an e-mail informing you of when you may collect the new agreement.
When will I receive my marks?
Your official transcript of records, issued by Administration, will not be available until after the exam period in the second semester. After the exams in January/February, students will be given their marks, but not the official transcript which is not issued until July. A copy of your official transcript of records will be sent to you and to your university by post in July.
In exceptional cases and for the first semester only, students may request that their marks be sent to directly to their home university. You will need to contact your lecturers individually and ask them to send your marks to the Vice-dean for International Relations at the FTIC by e-mail. You should note that marks sent to your home institution via e-mail cannot be considered as an official transcript and are solely for information purposes.
Where should I get my certificate of departure?
Your certificate of departure will be signed by the Vice-dean for International Relations. The final date cannot be later than the last day of the exam period for each semester.
I can’t access the Virtual Campus (Moodle)
On completing registration, you will be given personalized access to the ULPGC Virtual Campus where you can easily and quickly find all the information relevant to your subjects, lecturers, academic records and marks, etc: MiULPGC.
You can access MiULPGC from the University home page (www.ulpgc.es) and from the FTIC home page (www.fti.ulpgc.es).
If you cannot see one or more of your subjects on the Virtual Campus this may be because:
You have joined an annual subject which is not permitted if you are only staying for one semester. You should change this option and choose a semester subject.
If you have registered correctly for the subject and cannot access its contents on the Virtual Campus you should inform the lecturer and provide details of your name, surname, ID and e-mail address. The lecturer will send this information to IT Services so that you can obtain access to the Virtual Campus.
You can contact the Virtual Campus support team on 928 459 596.
Are there any courses in Spanish as a Foreign Language?
Yes. These courses are offered by the Department of Spanish, Classical and Arabic Philology and are free. There are two courses each semester, worth 6 ECTS credits each. In order to join one of the courses, the subject Español Lengua Extranjera (Spanish as a foreign language) must appear in your Learning Agreement. You just need to tick the appropriate box in the form on the FTIC web page.
I speak German (or any other language) and I would like to practise my Spanish with a Las Palmas student. What should I do?
If you speak German, English, French, Russian, Portuguese, Chinese, Italian (or any other language), the Tandem programme is for you.
What is the Tandem programme?
Tandem learning is when 2 people who are studying each other’s first language meet regularly for conversation, spending half the time speaking each of the two languages.
Click here to see the ULPGC Tandem Programme.
I haven’t got a computer. What should I do?
You can borrow a laptop from the Library on the Humanities campus.
How do I get to the Tafira campus from the FTIC?
There is a bus-stop outside the main entrance to the Faculty. Take the no. 25 yellow bus – this route covers the whole Tafira campus.
Where are the libraries?
You can study in and borrow books from any of the ULPGC libraries.
Humanities Library (campus where the FTIC is located)

There are also 24-hour study facilities – see below.
My flat-mates are very noisy. Where can I study at night?
The university has three 24-hour study facilities in different buildings: Architecture (Tafira campus), Education (next to the FTIC) and Health Sciences (San Cristóbal).
Is there wi-fi in the Faculty?
Yes; access is free – you just need to connect your computer.
In April 2004, the ULPGC installed open wi-fi connections on all its campuses. All the university buildings also have computer rooms where students can do their coursework, access their e-mail and surf the internet. For obvious reasons, you are not allowed to use these facilities to play video games, chat or carry out other activities that are not related to academic life.
The FTIC is on the Obelisk campus which is also called the Humanities campus. There are lots of campuses. I’m lost!
Consult the guide; it contains maps. There is also helpful information about consulates in the Canary Islands and useful contacts within the ULPGC.
